After receiving four Academy Awards like Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor and Best Original Screenplay, The King’s Speech finally opens in Manila this May. The 2010 British historical drama directed by Tom Hooper and written by David Seidler with actors Colin Firth, Geoffrey Rush, Helena Bonham-Carter and Guy Pearce will be exclusively screened in Ayala Cinemas (Glorietta 4, Greenbelt 3 and Trinoma) beginning May 11.
Based from the true story of King George VI, the film follows the journey of Prince Albert (Firth) toward the crown. The movie will touch the hardship and triumph of Prince Albert as he overcome debilitating speech impediment in his life with the support of his wife Elizabeth (Bonham-Carter). The film also includes the scandalous abdication of Prince Edward VII’s (Pearce) the eldest son of King George V and how the crown was transferred to Prince Albert.
