I had chance to see Star Cinema’s Caregiver during its Premiere Night in Cinema 10 SM Megamall last night May 27, prior to it release nationwide today May 28. Like Anak it shows the struggle of a woman and a mother who tries her luck on a foreign land despite of leaving her family in the Philippines. Vilma Santos then plays the role of Josie a Domestic Helper in Hongkong, while in Caregiver Sharon plays the role of Sarah, a teacher and a mother who sacrifices her career to be next English Department Head of their school to try her like to be a caregiver and London. The story might me simple because it’s common with the Overseas Filipino Workers stories of risking their lives going abroad, searching for luck, and leaving their family behind. But what is different with Anak and Caregiver is that it tells the story of two women with a single goal in life is to give their family a life far from what they had before they leave the country. And things go beyond their original plans, for Josie of Anak she learns that in spite of having a good life, she lost her daughter’s respect and love. For Sarah of Caregiver, she discovers that life as a caregiver doesn’t end after her duty in the hospital, for caregiver is not a profession alone, but a vacation that needs to be extended to those who needs care. And life may be cruel in the foreign land but the only thing you need like Sarah is a dose of courage and believing that in the end of the tunnel their is light, despite of the pain and hardship, we learn to stand every time we fall.

Why should you watch? Plain and simple, its a movie where we can relate too, our struggles, our hopes, and our dreams are like with Sarah. A woman and mother who faces challenges in life and use it as a learnings to carry on to her very long journey.
