The wait is finally over! Wicked is inviting fans and moviegoers to immerse themselves in the magic with special sing-along screenings arriving in the Philippines on January 8. Get ready to sing along to the film’s most iconic hits, including “Popular” and “Defying Gravity.”
After enchanting audiences for over two decades as one of the most beloved stage musicals, Wicked finally makes its highly anticipated leap to the big screen. Directed by Jon M. Chu (Crazy Rich Asians, In the Heights), this first chapter of a two-part film celebrates the untold story of the witches of Oz. Emmy, Grammy, and Tony-winning powerhouse Cynthia Erivo stars as Elphaba, a misunderstood young woman with green skin who discovers her inner strength. Joining her is Grammy-winning global superstar Ariana Grande as Glinda, a privileged and ambitious young woman on a journey to find her true self.
The film also features an all-star cast, including Academy Award winner Michelle Yeoh as the regal Madame Morrible, Jonathan Bailey (Bridgerton) as the carefree prince Fiyero, Tony nominee Ethan Slater as the altruistic Munchkin student Boq, and Marissa Bode in her film debut as Nessarose, Elphaba’s beloved sister. Pop culture icon Jeff Goldblum takes on the role of the legendary Wizard of Oz. Adding to the excitement are Emmy nominee Bowen Yang, Tony nominee Keala Settle, and Peter Dinklage as the voice of Dr. Dillamond.
