Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz reunited in Knight and Day, an action comedy film distributed by 20th Century Fox to be shown in all cinemas nationwide beginning June 24. Vanilla Sky is the first movie done together by Cruise and Diaz. The film is directed by James Mangold and written by Patrick O’Neill.
Knight and Day follows the action-packed adventure of Agent Roy Miller (Cruise) who intentionally bumped with June Havens (Diaz) to use her to be the carrier of the perpetual energy battery called Zephyr created by his friend Simon Feck (Paul Duno) and sell it to a Spanish arms dealer. The twist of fate begins in Miller’s possible transaction when Havens became an additional baggage to carry on this job.
It is unusual to see Cruise to do comical lines which doesn’t match with his facial expression, which it lacks sincerity to those who are watching. Same with the stiff and insensitive character of Miller, Cruise can hardly give justice on that part. Until there was Diaz who balanced it out, giving fair dealing with June’s character, we always see Diaz as the perky, loud and dumb-like person in all her movie like in Charlie’s Angels, My Best Friend’s Wedding and The Sweetest Thing, she would not have the lead female role in The Mask if she doesn’t have that appeal behind her angelic face and blond hair.
Knight and Day is 50 percent talkies (30 % Cameron Diaz and 20% Tom Cruise) which means expect screams and more lines from Cameron which I enjoyed her a lot especially her frenzied moments in the film and of course 30% action and 20% comedy which male viewers would love to see the gun and fist fight with loaded of hilarious lines (care of Cameron). The film is a “barkada” (friends) flick you will enjoy watching it with friends in a cinema that has a good Dolby or THX sound/audio for more quality sound, after all Knight and Day is action movie.
Knight and Day also stars Peter Sarsgaard, Maggie Grace, Paul Dano, Marc Blucas, Viola Davis and Olivier Martinez. The film will be shown in all cinemas nationwide beginning June 24, distributed by 20th Century Fox on its 75th Anniversary.
