Last October 3, former matinee idol Mark Anthony Fernandez was arrested and detained at the Police Station 6 in Angeles, Pampanga after allegedly caught possessing 1 kilogram of marijuana hidden inside a bag in his car. With everyone looking at Mark Anthony with allegedly violating the RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, his son Grae posted a message supporting and showing his love for his father though tweet.
Words of encouragement pour in coming from his supporters and friends including Min Bernardo, the mother of Kathryn Bernardo, his co-star in Pangako Sa’Yo.
Up to date, Fernandez is now charged with three cases namely transportation of illegal drugs, possession of illegal drugs and paraphaernalia and use of dangerous drugs according to According to the RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, the transportation of illegal drugs is punishable by life imprisonment and a fine of P500,000 to P10,000,000. He was tested positive with marijuana whereas Fernandez claimed that he use it for medical purposes. He said that he is using it to prevent cancer. But according to Chief Supt. Aaron Aquino, Central Luzon police director that there is no basis on this alibi.
This is not the first time that Fernandez was involved with illegal substance, in the report of Inquirer it says that Fernandez had gone into rehabilitation at least two times for his drug addiction in 1998 and 2004. His father, the late action star Rudy Fernandez initiated his rehabilitation.
According to Supt. Sydney Villaflor, city police director of Angeles City with Fernandez’ possession of 1 KG of the said substance disqualifies him from posting bail.
Aside from Fernandez, former sexy stars Krista Miller and Sabrina M were arrested on an anti-drug operations.
