>As of May 20009, World Health Organization reported that there is almost 314 million people are visually impaired worldwide and 45 million of them are blind. This kind of visual problem occurs in old age and mostly females. WHO also stated that there is 87% of the worlds visually impaired lives came from the developing country like the Philippines and one of the eye diseases is glaucoma.
Glaucoma is a group of diseases that result in damage of the optic nerve, and sometimes it is hard to distinguish if you have a tendency to have one until its too late and you are diagnose to have one. It is important for us to know the early signs of glaucoma and this signs are headache or nausea after reading, watching TV or movies, difficulty in navigating stairs and estimation of distance that leads to frequent bumping into things and dimming of some part of the visual field.
It is the usual cause of blindness in the Philippines, unlike before there is glaucoma treatment that will prevent us from loosing our eyesight.
