One of the films to look forward on Christmas Day is the family comedy film of Star Cinema and Viva Films entitled Girl Boy Bakla Tomboy. The film stars the box office comedy actor Vice Ganda which included at the 2013 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) and directed by the box office director Wenn V. Deramas who brought the successful family comedy film Ang Tanging Ina N’yong Lahat, Ang Tanging Ina Mo (Last na ‘To!) and Sisterakas. Girl Boy Bakla Tomboy also stars Maricel Soriano, Joey Marquez, Ruffa Guttierez, Cristine Reyes, Ejay Falcon, JC De Vera, Kiray Celis, JM “Cho” Ibanez, Red Bustamante and Xyriel Manabat.
The film breaks the conventional twin concept on Philippine cinema where the story focuses on quadruplet siblings played by Vice Ganda. The comedy actor will be playing Girlie, Mark, Panying and Peter. Mark is gay while Panying is a lesbian that grew with their mother while Peter and Girlie were separated from them when their father took them away. But in the end they will be reunited and will take on a very hard decision that will test their relationship as family.
During the interview of Direk Wenn he mentioned that doing the scenes where all the siblings are in it are very hard and time consuming. He shared that he needed to shoot per character and Vice need to adjust in all the scenes every time he needs to shift to one character to another. According to Direk Wenn he admired Vice’s contribution to the project from his suggestions and openness to the possible changes whereas the comedienne is known for his adlibs in It’s Showtime. At the end, Direk Wenn hopes that Vice will get recognition for doing this very challenging roles in Girl Boy Bakla Tomboy which the first in the MMFF that an actor will do four different roles with unique personality.
Girl Boy Bakla Tomboy will be competing with fellow MMFF films including Boy Golden, My Little Bossing, Pedro Calungsod: Batang Martir, 10,000 Hours, Kimmy Dora: Ang Kiyemeng Prequel, Pagpag Siyam Na Buhay, and Kaleidoscope World.
