From the theatre company that brings Songs From A New World, Rent, Sweet Charity, You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown, The Wedding Singer and They’re Playing Our Song here in the Philippines, 9 Works Theatrical now brings another Broadway classic that will surely made every theatergoers enjoy the songs and style of the 50’s. Grease is a 1971 musical by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey that was later adapted to the big screen in in 1978 that gave a big break in the showbiz career of John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John.
In the 9Works presentation of Grease, they will be bringing Gian Magdangal and Frencheska Farr who will be playing the roles of Danny Zuko and Sandy Dumbrowski respectively. For the two actors, performing to a musical is not new to them. Gian became the lead star in 9Works presentation of Rent and The Wedding Singer while Frencheska was awarded with her portrayal in the movie musical Emir. Set in school in the 50’s where fashion trends are leather jackets, bobby sox, and pedal pushers and way of dating are having bonfires at night, prom and drive-in movies not to mention the height of teenage hormones that everyone encounters.
Grease focuses on the love story of Danny known as the head “greaser” in school which they got the title because of their oily sculptured hair and the new girl in school named Sandy. But unknown to Danny that new girl in school was the same girl he met at the beach during his summer flings. With this set up, everyone will surely look forward on a perfect mix of rebellion and love story on the stage of Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium on RCBC Plaza in Makati City in all weekends from November 9 to December 1, 2013. During the running date of Grease there will be performances on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at 8pm, Saturday matinees at 3:30pm and Sunday matinees at 4pm.
