Live from Newport Performance Arts Theatre (NPAT) in Resorts World Manila, Mitoy Yonting from the team of Lea Salonga became the first ever champion of The Voice of the Philippines. It was a tough fight between him and the other three finalists namely Myk Perez from the team of Bamboo, Klarisse de Guzman from the team of Sarah Geronimo and Janice Javier from the team of Apl de Ap. Hosted by Toni Gonzaga with the help of the V Reporters Robi Domingo and Alex Gonzaga, Klarisse and Mitoy were announced as top 2 from the combined text and online votes while Myk and Janice on the bottom 2.
During their performance at the finale, Klarisse performed Your Song with Sarah Geronimo and Robert Sena. They were followed by Myk’s performance of Morning Rose with Bamboo. Next was a medley of Himig ng Pag-ibig and The Time from Janice with Lolita Carbon and Apl. Last but not the least is the funny performance of Mitoy with Vice Ganda and Lea of the song Total Eclipse of the Heart.
After announcing the Top 2, their scores are back to zero for Mitoy and Klarisse and they opened the voting lines again. The final showdown kicked off with Klarisse performance with the song Magsimula Ka and followed by Mitoy’s performance of Help.
It was a reunion of the Top 20 contestants for this season when they opened the show with Jed Madela and Arner Pineda. After closing of the voting lines, Shane Filan from the defunct Westlife gave a smashing performance on The Voice of the Philippines stage.
Mitoy will be bringing home a recording contract, and other cash prizes from the sponsors and supporters of The Voice of the Philippines. There will be a back to back concert of the contestants of The Voice of the Philippines together with the coaches and special guests that will be a 60 Years offering of ABS-CBN to be telecast on October 5 and 6 on the same timeslots.
