November 23, 2009 marked the most hideous election-related crime in the country’s history as more than 50 people, including journalists and lawyers, were allegedly abducted and massacred in Maguindanao. The man pointed as culprit was Mayor Andal Ampatuan, the political rival of Vice Mayor Ismael Mangudadatu, who’s wife was one of the victims.
This Tuesday (Dec 1), Jorge Carino reports on the investigation straight from the crime site on “The Correspondents.”
According to witnesses, almost a hundred gunmen, believed to be Ampatuan’s private army, stopped Mangudadatu’s convoy to the Commission on Elections in Sharif Aguak. The group was going to file the certificate of candidacy in behalf of Mangudadatu.
Join Jorge Carino as he traces the rivalry of the Ampatuans and Mangudadatu and exposes the existence of private armies in Maguindanao on “The Correspondents” this Tuesday night (Dec 1), right after “Bandila” on ABS-CBN.
