During the annual coastal cleaning that happened every third week of September, Coca-Cola never fails to be part of this advocacy to create awareness among their employees and supporters on protecting and rehabilitating the environment. This was my second year for Coastal Clean Up with Coca-Cola through their Agos campaign. My first was 2 years ago at the Samal Island in Bataan where it takes more than 3 hours to travel from Manila. And this year was in Freedom Island located in Parañaque City.
As always, on the shores there were plastic containers, styrofoam, torn slippers, and other non-biodegradable wastes that most of the people on ships and nearby places threw on the sea. Sadly, they’re not aware on the negative impact on our marine life and resources in the future. With the coastal clean up where various organizations from government, academe and private sectors join forces to make it happen and involve their members on this activity and again to create awareness.
Because coastal clean-up is just part of the big steps on talking care of our marine resources and environment, and luckily I was there with Coca-Cola to be part of this campaign. We may not do our daily clean up but what matter is that we should be responsible enough to through our garbage properly and not by throwing it anywhere. With that being responsible and passing it to generation we can end that apathy and became sympathetic to the caring of the environment.
