Despite of being progressive in terms of economy and distribution of budget, as a country we are still facing the problem on the access of education for both urban and rural area. I have been in places where students need to walk more than 5 kilometers in order to go to school, others need to cross rivers and lakes, and some need to go down from high places braving themselves from hostile and dangerous path just to attend classes everyday. These were the things I learned during my visit in Mindanao last year most especially in conflict affected areas where mostly victims are children.
Last July 4, Red Ribbon together with Franklin Baker Company and Apl.de.Ap Foundation launched the Red Ribbon’s Macaroons for a Cause campaign where its primary aim is to raised funds to build schools. The first project will be in Zamboanga where aside from additional building, collected funds will be used for additional educational facilities which more than 600 students will benefit from it.
Funds will be raised through the Red Ribbon’s Macaroons for a Cause which each pack contains 10 pieces of delicious macaroons that cost Php 50 and 14% from it or Php 7 will go straight to the project. So far Red Ribbon needs to sell 4.2 million packs of Macaroons for a Cause in order to execute their first project.
So be part of this nation building project through education, support Red Ribbon’s Macaroons for a Cause campaign. For every pack of delicious and comforting bite of our favorite Red Ribbon macaroons we are contributing on a big leap on building a school in Zamboanga which will benefit hundreds of children who dreams to have a better education that will help them reach their goals.
