Now on its eighth (8th) years, Star World partners with the American Idol franchise to be the official distributor of American Idol Season 12 starting January 17. The American Idol Season 12 will be airing at 6PM with replays at 8PM and 11PM every Thursday. The American singing reality-show brings three new judges to join power music producer Randy Jackson who was joined before by Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell who were at the early seasons of the show.
Three new judges includes country music star Keith Urban, fun pop superstar Nicki Minaj, and eternal diva Mariah Carey who will be bringing out the best in all the idol hopefuls as they named the newest American Idol following the footsteps of Kelly Clarkson, Clay Aiken, Fantasia Barrino, Jennifer Hudson, Carrie Underwood, Chris Daughtry, Jordin Sparks, Taylor Hicks, David Cook, and David Archuleta.
With seven (7) major audition areas including Los Angeles, Chicago, Oklahoma City, New Orleans and San Antonio, Texas, the American Idol Season 12 also did auditions via American Idol Small Town Audition Bus Tour and the “Nominate an Idol” program giving the Idol hopefuls the chance to be discovered and be one of the contestants who will undergo judges’ screening until the finals. The American Idol Small Town Audition Bus Tour aims to target 10 small towns that cannot join the auditions in the big city and the “Nominate an Idol” program where friends and family members can secretly nominate someone by filling up an online form and submitting an existing video of the person singing solo and a capella and the crew of American Idol Season 12 will go to their place and record the audition piece; same thing with the online audition that happened in the last quarter of 2012.
During the Season 11 of American Idol where the two finalists include Phillip Phillips and Jessica Sanchez, it garnered 132 million votes. Phillips emerged as the winner and later achieved achieve top spots on the Billboard Hot 100 with his songs Home and The World From The Side Of The Moon. Meanwhile, Sanchez gained support from the international scene and became endorsers of several products in the Philippines and signed contract with the Interscope Records.
