In line with the celebration of the World Humanitarian Day 2012, the United Nations together with its agencies that focuses on humanitarian campaigns along with other organizations from various sectors join forces to pay tribute to unsung heroes who continuously gives hope to areas where future for them are dimming. Along with the celebration, American singer, songwriter and producer Beyoncé Knowles joins the world by singing the official song for the campaign entitled I Was Here which is also the title of this year’s campaign.
Beyoncé performed the song during the UN Assembly in New York last August 10 to kick off for the World Humanitarian Day 2012. She performed in front of the humanitarians, advocates and diplomats at the UN Assembly where photos from various countries showing the current humanitarian relief operations where flashed along with the icon or logo of the World Humanitarian Day 2012.
Here’s the video of Beyoncé singing I Was Here at the UN Headquarters in New York (videos might not be viewed in some regions).
The song I Was Here summarizes all the selfless efforts of every member of various humanitarian agencies and organizations on giving their lives for others, giving hope for those who needs it and giving faith in areas where they are losing it right now because of disaster, violence and calamities.
