I remember doing an interview with a good friend Apples Jalandoni in certain mobile applications that they feature in late news program Bandila. That time I was talking about Apple and Android Apps which I forgot to mention some best applications on Nokia that are available and mostly free via the Nokia Store (http://store.ovi.com if you want to see it online) which is currently in my alternate E63 smartphone.
Here are some of the run down of the applications I recommend and also some ratings which I find must have which are 1 and 2 and of course having 3 as moderate. Most of the applications need 3G/GPRS and WIFI connection to function on your Nokia phone.
1. MMDA – This application comes handy to those who are very cautious with traffic here in Metro Manila. Powered by the Metro Manila Development Authority, a government agency that targets urban development in NCR, it provides real update of traffic status in major roads like EDSA, C3, C5, Makati, Quezon City, Ortigas and more to let commuters and drivers be more intelligent in finding re-routes and maybe be early to avoid traffic hassles. It is free to download at the Nokia Store and because it is necessary I’ll give it a 2 for rating.
2. iTyphoon – if your have MMDA for traffic updates in Metro Manila, iTyphon is weather update it is a Filipino made application created by Magno Edilberto R. Conag III, president and C.E.O. of Nueva Caceres Technology Solutions, Inc., together with his friend, David Michael V. Padua, owner of Typhoon2000.com. What’s good with this application it gives you a real time update of Philippine weather especially during typhoon where they include signals with explanation to let mobile users understand more as it was presented on a layman way. Still it is free to download and I’m giving it with rating of 1.
3. Push! Celebrity News/Push! Showbiz News – Filipinos love showbiz updates and Nokia Store gives us the option to get updates straight from our mobile phones. Push is a celebrity showbiz news that tackles Philippine entertainment giving mobile users updates on the entertainment scene including photos and juicy blind items. It is free via Nokia Store and giving it a rating of 3.
4. ABS-CBN News – Get the information straight from your mobile phone, that’s the way how ABS-CBN News mobile application offers to mobile users. I mentioned it during my interview in Bandila and luckily aside from Android and Apple App it is now available in Nokia phones. It offers everyone world and nation news, sports, opinions and breaking news that we need to be informed. ABS-CBN News Nokia Application is available on Nokia store and with the rating of 1.
5. QuickOffice Pro – This one is not for free it cost Php 100 and can be bought via credit card or paypal at the Nokia App Store. I have this one and also mentioned it in my interview with Apples and it is very handy for a person who wanted to write on document, powerpoint or excel file and save it for presentation. I usually this application every time I do reports, blog post or speech on a rush and send it to my email for further editing. It has a Google Docs and Dropbox integration where you can connect or save it online. Other features include font color, side and design, text alignment and slide sorting for powerpoint and currency familiarization for excel. It is something beyond your notes or sms templates that you can save on outbox. I’m giving it a rating of 2.
I’m sharing 5 of the Nokia Apps that you can download and to extend your mobile usage. There are lots of free and paid mobile application via Nokia Apps on your phones or visit http://store.ovi.com for the complete list of mobile applications that are compatible with your Nokia whether it is series 40 or 60.
