Two of the prime artists of ABS-CBN in regards with their teleserye shows, Mylene Dizon and Jodi Sta. Maria will topbill one of the finalists of the 2012 Cinemalaya New Breed Full Length Feature Category entitled Aparisyon. Directed by Vincent Sandoval, a US-based Filipino filmmakeras the film that tackles about faith, miracle and sacrifices in life.
Set in 1971 in a remote town of Rizal, the sisters of the Adoration monastery lead quiet and insulated lives devoting themselves to prayer, penance and to God. Headed by Mother Superior Ruth (Fides), she takes pride in changing the lives of her group by taking them away from vices and vicissitudes of the outside world and making them embrace a life filled with prayers and daily rituals. Sister Remy (Dizon) an extern nun needs to run errand for the congregation learns from her mother that his activist brother was snatched by some armed men and with that she asked permission to Mother Superior Ruth to be excused for few days but she was declined. But it doesn’t stop Remy from doing her responsibility to her family until it was discovered by Sister Lourdes (Sta. Maria) a newly recruit nun in the monastery and followed her and later became her alliance. But in one of their meetings as they went back to the monastery they fall victims of violence. Devastated, Ruth, Remy and Lourdes individually grapple with the emotional aftermath. Ruth is well aware that the crisis could either destroy the nuns beyond repair or draw them closer together.
Aparisyon also stars Fides Cuyugan-Asensio, and Raquel Villavicencio. It will be shown on Cultural Center of the Philippines, Greenbelt and Trinoma on July 20-29, 2012.
