United International Pictures brings another inspirational film that will touch the hearts of every movie goers and widen their perspective in taking care for nature. Together with Drew Barrymore who is also a proud supporter for humanitarian project as World Food Programme Ambassador Against Hunger, she played the role of a fictional character named Rachel Kramer, a member of Greenpeace in Alaska which is based from the person named Cindy Lowry in the same organization who had a big part in rescuing gray whales trapped in ice near Point Barrow in 1988. The film was directed by Ken Kwapis and based from the 1989 book Freeing the Whales by Tom Rose, which covers Operation Breakthrough that narrates the rescue done in Point Barrow.
Regarding the character that she is playing in Big Miracles, Drew spent time with Cindy to know her more and get the story of what happen during the rescue to get the feeling and emotion before they start shooting the film. Her character is a kind of person who is very involved and educated and known to be extremist in terms of taking a stand in protecting the environment which Greenpeace is very much know. So Rachel, Drew’s character possesses stubbornness and does whatever it takes in order to accomplish her mission. And in the story of Big Miracle they relive the heroism of everyone who take part in rescuing the gray whales in Barrow, Alaska.
