After her successful portrayal as the treacherous and cunning Velma Kelly in the musical film Chicago in 2002 where she receives numerous awards including the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress, Catherine Zeta-Jones will be returning to the big screen as she plays Patricia Whitmore in New Line Cinema’s “Rock of Ages”. She will be joined by Tom Cruise, Russell Brand, Paul Giamatti, Malin Åkerman, Bryan Cranston, with Alec Baldwin and Mary J. Blige. It will be showing in all cinemas nationwide beginning June 14, 2012 and will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.
In the movie, the role that Zeta-Jones is doing is mayor’s wife who leads a brigade of women bent on ridding the streets of all things rock ‘n’ roll. She sees that rock ‘n roll is a work of a devil that drives every people wild and destructive which for her being a conservative and narrowed minded person is a sin.
Rock of Ages follows the journey of tells the story of small town girl Sherrie (Hough) and city boy Drew (Boneta), who meet on the Sunset Strip while pursuing their Hollywood dreams. Making Stacee Jaxx (Tom Cruise), the famous rock star as their idol and making their source of inspiration despite of the news of his splitting with his band Arsenal. Aside from the powerhouse cast, viewers should look forward to the hit songs of Bon Jovi, Guns N’ Roses, Def Leppard, Foreigner, Journey, Poison, Europe, and Twisted Sister that will be featured in the movie.
