On January 2012, Warner Bros. Pictures brings back the action comedy tandem of Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law on the big screen for the film Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows. It is the sequel of the Sherlock Holmes franchise that was directed by Guy Ritchie and based from the character with the same name created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. The screenplay was written by Kieran Mulroney and Michele Mulroney and also includes actors like Noomi Rapace, Jared Harris, Stephen Fry, Kelly Reilly and Rachel McAdams.
The sequel embarks on the adventure of Sherlock Holmes (Downey Jr.) with his partner and friend Dr. John Watson (Law) to stop the new criminal mastermind at large named Professor James Moriarty (Harris). For Holmes it is hard to capture Prof. Moriarty because they share common characteristics including his equal intellect with the detective and has a greater capacity to do evil due to lack of conscience.
Their chase for Prof. Moriarty leads them to go to London to France, Germany and finally Switzerland. Being a clever villain, he had the chance to outwit Holmes and come close to his ultimate plan that will not only bring him immense wealth and power but alter the course of history.
The film also reunites the director with the cast and also his producers namely Joel Silver, Lionel Wigram, Susan Downey and Dan Lin. Bruce Berman and Steve Clark-Hall served as executive producers. Also this is the first English speaking role for Noomi Rapace , a Swedish actress, who gained international attention in the Swedish film like The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. In this film she plays a mysterious Gypsy named Sim, who becomes allied with Holmes and Watson in their quest to stop Moriarty.
