SM remains steadfast in its mission of responsible and inclusive growth, extending immediate assistance to underserved communities through corporate resources, essential goods, and volunteer efforts. As the corporate social responsibility (CSR) arm of the SM Group, SM Foundation has provided 982,415 Kalinga Packs and conducted 783 relief missions, reinforcing its role as a trusted partner in disaster response and recovery.
In 2024, SM Foundation, SM Supermalls, and SM Markets spearheaded 41 Operation Tulong Express (OPTE) missions, distributing over 108,000 Kalinga Packs filled with essential food and medical supplies to calamity-affected areas. OPTE remains a vital initiative, delivering rapid assistance to communities in need.
“The SM Group, through SM Foundation, continues to work closely with communities to provide critical aid during disasters. We leverage our corporate resources to ensure swift relief, reinforcing our commitment to being a responsible neighbor,” said Debbie Sy, Executive Director of SM Foundation.

SM Foundation operates in synergy with SM Markets, Airspeed, 2GO, and SM Cares, ensuring efficient delivery of goods, logistics support, and essential services. SM malls also serve as temporary shelters during crises, offering safe spaces and charging stations for affected individuals. Employees actively participate in relief operations, strengthening the company’s hands-on approach to community service.
Founded on Henry Sy, Sr.’s vision of education as a key to poverty alleviation, SM Foundation has since expanded its initiatives to healthcare, livelihood, and housing. The organization’s disaster response efforts were significantly scaled up after Super Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) in 2013, prompting a holistic approach that now includes medical aid, scholarships, school rebuilding, housing programs, and farmers’ training.
Education remains a priority, with 110 school buildings and over 370 classrooms built to date. From restoring fire-damaged schools in Tagbilaran City to rehabilitating Sta. Barbara Central Elementary School in Zamboanga after the 2013 siege, SM Foundation remains dedicated to strengthening local education systems.
“We actively engage communities to ensure our efforts meet their real needs. By fostering dialogue and conducting impact assessments, we continuously improve our programs for long-term resilience,” Sy added.
More than just a corporate entity, SM Foundation stands as a reliable partner, always ready to support communities.
