Warner Bros. Pictures is set to bring Superman back to theaters worldwide this summer in DC Studios’ highly anticipated debut feature film. Directed by James Gunn, the movie reimagines the iconic superhero for a new DC universe, blending epic action, humor, and heartfelt storytelling. This new Superman is driven by compassion and an unshakable belief in the goodness of humanity.
Produced by DC Studios heads Peter Safran and James Gunn, the film is based on characters from DC and the beloved Superman, created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. Gunn also penned the screenplay and brings his signature style to this fresh take on the Man of Steel.
The film stars David Corenswet (“Twisters,” “Hollywood”) in the dual role of Superman/Clark Kent, Rachel Brosnahan (“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”) as Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult (the “X-Men” movies, “Juror #2”) as Lex Luthor. The film also stars Edi Gathegi (“For All Mankind”), Anthony Carrigan (“Barry,” “Gotham”), Nathan Fillion (the “Guardians of the Galaxy” films, “The Suicide Squad”), Isabela Merced (“Alien Romulus”), Skyler Gisondo (“Licorice Pizza,” “Booksmart”), Sara Sampaio (“At Midnight”), María Gabriela de Faría (“The Moodys”), Wendell Pierce (“Selma,” “Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan”), Alan Tudyk (“Andor”), Pruitt Taylor Vince (“Bird Box”) and Neva Howell (“Greedy People”).
The production boasts an impressive creative team, including cinematographer Henry Braham, production designer Beth Mickle, costume designer Judianna Makovsky, and composer John Murphy. Editing is handled by Craig Alpert (“Deadpool 2”), Jason Ballantine (“IT” films), and William Hoy (“The Batman”).
Superman will soar into theaters and IMAX on July 9, 2025.
