Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) officially unveiled the Next Generation Tamaraw in a grand launch held simultaneously across eight locations in the Philippines, including major cities like Makati, Cebu, and Davao, as well as via an online livestream. This landmark event highlighted the versatility and innovation of the reimagined Tamaraw, now designed to meet the diverse needs of modern Filipino businesses and families.
The Tamaraw, a name synonymous with reliability and durability for generations, has been reborn as a multi-purpose vehicle for the 21st century. Locally manufactured at TMP’s plant in Santa Rosa, Laguna, the new Tamaraw is built on Toyota’s global IMV platform, combining the toughness of its original design with the adaptability required for today’s mobility challenges. With options for diesel and gas engines, the vehicle caters to a wide range of passenger and cargo needs, making it ideal for both personal and commercial use.
As part of the launch, TMP introduced Coco Martin as its newest brand endorser. Known for his mass appeal through his TV shows and movies, Coco is also recognized as a hardworking entrepreneur. During the unveiling at the Glorietta Activity Center on December 8, he shared that before entering the entertainment industry, he was a regular worker who relied on the Toyota Tamaraw as his daily mode of transportation to work.
For Coco, being the face of a vehicle that played such a significant role in his life is a humbling experience. He also admires the Next Generation Tamaraw’s promotion, emphasizing its adaptability not only as personal or public transportation but also as a business partner. He highlighted its customizable features, which allow it to serve various purposes, such as a utility vehicle for his equipment as a director.
“Coco’s journey with the Toyota Tamaraw is a reminder of what’s possible when passion meets purpose. We hope it inspires Filipino entrepreneurs to move forward toward excellence and fuel their dreams with creativity and innovation,” Shared Elvin Luciano, TMP Vice President for Marketing Services.
During the launch, TMP showcased various configurations of the Tamaraw, including the Long Wheelbase (LWB) Dropside, Utility Van, and Aluminum Cargo variants, which will be available starting January 2025. Future models, such as Ambulance, Patrol Van, and Refrigerated Van conversions, were also previewed, alongside special versions like Food Trucks and Camper RVs. This versatility is made possible through TMP’s partnership with Toyota Mobility Solutions Philippines (TMSPH), underscoring the brand’s commitment to addressing the unique needs of Filipino customers.
The Next Generation Tamaraw is competitively priced, starting at PHP 937,000 for the LWB Dropside Diesel variant. TMP also plans to release a more affordable Short Wheelbase (SWB) gas variant priced below PHP 800,000 soon. To make ownership more accessible, Toyota Financial Services Philippines offers flexible financing options, including low down payments and customizable insurance policies. Maintenance is simplified with discounted vouchers for periodic service checkups, ensuring a hassle-free ownership experience.
With its robust design, customizable features, and comprehensive support services, the Next Generation Tamaraw is set to become an indispensable partner for businesses and individuals alike. TMP’s “total package” approach, which includes after-sales support and mobility solutions, ensures customers can focus on achieving their goals while relying on the Tamaraw’s proven reliability. Reservations are now open at Toyota dealerships nationwide, marking the start of an exciting new chapter for this iconic vehicle.
