Fresh from winning last year’s Best Actress at the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) for the film When I Met You in Tokyo, Star for All Seasons Vilma Santos is returning to the big screen with another MMFF entry—this time under Mentorque Productions and Project 8 Projects. Vilma will star in the mystery thriller Uninvited alongside fellow award-winning actors Aga Muhlach and Nadine Lustre.
During the grand media launch, Vilma shared that Uninvited was her dream project. She recalled being asked what kind of story she would create if she were to direct a movie. She envisioned a plot that unfolds within 24 hours, beginning with a grand opening and culminating in chaos. While she had the concept in mind, she admitted she wasn’t sure how to develop the story further. She expressed gratitude to the production and creative team, led by director Dan Villegas and screenwriter Dodo Dayao, for bringing the idea to life.
Dan and Dodo previously collaborated on the psychological thriller Cattleya Killer, which streamed on Prime Video. Coincidentally, that film served as a follow-up to Sa Aking Mga Kamay, where Aga Muhlach played one of the lead roles.
Uninvited also marks Vilma’s reunion with Aga after 30 years. The two last worked together on Nag-iisang Bituin in 1994, with their first film pairing being Sinungaling Mong Puso in 1992. Vilma shared that she personally called Aga to convince him to join the project, which was initially titled Project Red. She joked that if Aga declined, she would “return the candle” to him and his wife, Charlene Gonzales, as she is their godmother.
Aside from Vilma, Nadine, and Aga, the film boasts a stellar cast, including RK Bagatsing, Mylene Dizon, Lotlot de Leon, Gabby Padilla, Elijah Canlas, Ketchup Eusebio, Gio Alvarez, Cholo Barretto, Ron Angeles, and Tirso Cruz III.
The film follows Eva Candelaria (Vilma Santos) who waited ten years to confront Guilly Vega (Aga Muhlach), the billionaire who murdered her daughter and evaded justice. Disguised as a socialite, Eva infiltrates his lavish birthday party, seeking revenge. As the night progresses, she targets those involved in the crime while grappling with uncertainty about the true villain—Guilly or his daughter Nicole (Nadine Lustre). With no weapons and a desperate plan, Eva faces life-or-death decisions. Will she succeed in her quest for vengeance, or will the night consume her instead?
Mentorque CEO John Bryan Diamante, who previously produced the successful 2023 MMFF entry Mallari, promises that Uninvited is a high-quality film featuring award-winning actors and a compelling story. He assures audiences that the movie will be worth every peso when it premieres during the Metro Manila Film Festival starting December 25. The film will be distributed by Warner Bros Pictures.
