Intense action and drama shake up home viewing as the HBO Asia Original series from the Philippines, “On the Job,” starring Joel Torre, Gerald Anderson, Joey Marquez, Piolo Pascual, John Arcilla, Dennis Trillo, and Christopher de Leon, begins streaming September 12 (Sunday) on HBO GO via SKY.
The six-part crime thriller from highly acclaimed veteran filmmaker Erik Matti brings to life stories of corruption and violence in today’s society inspired by true events with prisoners Tatang (Joel Torre) and Daniel (Gerald Anderson) carrying out dangerous missions to assassinate high-profile political figures, ordered by mysterious crime syndicates. But the law enforcement is on their tail with cop sergeant Joaquin (Joey Marquez) and bureau agent Francis (Piolo Pascual) tracking them down to put an end to these brutal killings.
Meanwhile, the series will also tackle another real-world predicament in today’s media as journalists Sisoy (John Arcilla) and Arnel (Christopher de Leon) try to seek the truth of fake news and how easily truth can be manufactured and disseminated to the public in today’s age of information. When eight individuals, all linked to a newspaper, disappear one day, another hired killer on the loose, inmate Roman (Dennis Trillo), holds vital evidence to this dark incident.
Its director Erik Matti urged people to see the six-part series even if they have seen its original film version.
“I still urge you to go and see the series because it has a totally different flavor to it. It’s the same story but it was designed as a series, which is episodic. And the kind of excitement it gives in every episode, it’s different. It hits differently and that we are really proud of,” Matti, who is currently in Italy for this year’s Venice Film Festival, said during the virtual press conference for the movie.
The newest six-episode HBO Asia Original crime thriller series to premiere on HBO GO is a combination of Erik Matti’s masterpiece of the same name, which screened as a film at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival with never-before-seen episodes. It is in competition at the prestigious 78th Venice Film Festival as “On the Job: The Missing 8.”
Don’t miss out on all the action and drama as Pinoy audiences can watch “On the Job” every Sunday, with its first three episodes streaming on-demand starting September 12 on HBO GO.
Catch it in high-definition and commercial-free with SKY’s HBO GO plan for as low as P99 a month via SKYcable or P149 a month via any SKY Fiber subscription package.
