Learn and be inspired as Angel Locsin and “Iba Yan” highlights the noble environmental practice of a group of persons with disabilities—the art of making eco-friendly charcoal using the method called charcoal briquetting—this Sunday (May 16).
Get to know the advocacy of “Tree’s A Life,” a group of persons with disabilities who have dedicated their lives to promoting a healthy environment through making charcoal from water lilies and other environment-friendly materials.
One of them is Ofemio Rangel, who has found another purpose in life when he learned about charcoal briquetting after his leg got cut off in a vehicular accident.
When he has no orders for the eco-uling, he makes circular-shaped rugs to add to his income for his family.
Viewers will also get a glimpse of the life of Danilo Aquino. When his former group disbanded, he continued their advocacy by creating “Tree’s A Life.”
As of now, he works at the Person with Disability Affairs Office of Taguig but still continues to make eco-uling with his group.
Another member of this group is Relyn Nieva, who got diagnosed with Stage 2A Breast Cancer last 2013. After surviving the illness in 2015, she found out a year later that it had returned and was by then on Stage Four.
But with her family and friends’ support, she found strength to fight her sickness. With lesser cancer cells in her body, she is now back to Stage 2.
This weekend’s episode will also be fun as comedian Kitkat joins the team.
