After the release of Starbucks Card in the Philippines four years ago, it became part of the daily routine of coffee drinkers to use it for three reasons, first to monitor their expenses or having a budget for their daily coffee by loading in their Starbucks Cards, second is the rewards including the slice of cake on their birthday month and the beverage, whole bean and teas and Starbucks VIA stars that they can redeem when they reach a certain number. And lastly Starbucks Cards is a collector’s item especially for the regional designs like the Philippine Starbucks Card.
The 2017 Philippine Starbucks Card highlighted the cultural side of the Filipinos though folk dancing. The design of the card shows a woman in a baro’t saya, flower in her hair and bamboo stills. This is the usual look of a Filipino woman either dancing Tinikling because of the bamboo stills or Cariñosa because of the color of the baro’t saya and the flower in the hair. The card will be available for activation with a minimum of Php 300. Meanwhile from July 28-30, activation with load of more than Php 1, 500 enables the card holder to get a free Venti of the handcrafted drink he or she wanted and automatic three beverage stars in his or her account once the card is registered online.
The first three designs of the Philippine Starbucks Cards show symbols that highlighted the Filipino culture and tradition. In 2014, the first Philippine Starbucks Card highlighted the Philippine Eagle and the colors of the flag, meanwhile in 2015 the card focus on the Philippinel fiestas are some of the most exciting, diverse, and colorful celebrations in the world. It was shown in the elements found in the card. Lastly, in 2016 there are two cards released, the Manila Starbucks Card that was inspired by “Summer Night in Manila” and focused on the design of the beloved jeepney traveling the busy city at night. Meanwhile, the Cebu Starbucks Card highlighted the Marcelo Fernan Bridge and the Mactan-Mandaue Bridge as viewed from the hilltops of Cebu that are decked with Sinulog flowers.
