The Dual Camera Set- Up, a trend that’s starting to dominate the smart phone industry, got the attention and curiosity of our Gizguide team. However, as exciting, and powerful and trendy as the feature may seem, let’s be real, is their phone battery good enough to withstand their picture taking quality?
The team decided to compare the two giants of camera phones, namely, the Apple iPhone7 plus and the Huawei P9 plus. By devising a simple battery drain test, in which we played and looped a 1080p video on both phones on airplane mode, with headphones on overnight, we were able to observe the phones’ battery life. After 9 hours of conducting the said test, Apple’s iPhone 7 plus lasted 9 hours with 9% battery left to spare, while the Huawei P9 plus has 12% of battery life remaining.
Let’s make a brief introduction on both phone’s battery capacity, Apple’s iPhone 7 plus houses a 2900mAh battery capacity, which is relatively smaller, in comparison to its competitor, Huawei P9 plus, which boasts a battery capacity of 3450mAh.
Both phones have their own battery saving feature. Apple’s iPhone 7 has a low power mode that reduces the background processes and animations to save its battery’s power. Huawei on the other hand, has an array of battery power saving modes like the ROG mode; it reduces the screen resolution from 1080 FHD to 720 HD, and it also reduces background processes to save power. Another battery saving feature of Huawei P9 is its Ultra Power Saving mode, which lets you extend the battery life even further.
With this in mind, its obvious that even though the iPhone contains a smaller battery capacity, its efficiency is proof that it can be at par with the Huawei P9 plus’ battery life amidst all the battery saving features both phones support.
So, is it the iPhone? Or P9? It’s clear that both phones have proven their batteries can keep up with the demand of usage. Either of the two options, you are sure to get the value for your money.
