After the tight competition of the eight 2015 Metro Manila Film Festival entries including Beauty and the Bestie (Star Cinema and Viva Films), All You Need is Pag-Ibig (Star Cinema), Buy Now, Die Later (Quantum Films), Haunted Mansion (Regal Films), Honor Thy Father (Reality Entertainment), My Bebe Love: #KiligPaMore (OctoArts Film, M-Zet Productions and APT Entertainment), Nilalang (Haunted Tower Pictures and Viva Films) and Walang Forever (Quantum Films), the artists and production team of respective movies join together in the Gabi ng Parangal that takes place in the Kia Theater in Quezon City on December 27. The event was hosted by Richard Gutierrez and KC Concepcion.
Aside from the mainstream movies, New Wave entries included were ARI: My Life with a King, Mandirigma, Tandem, Toto and Turo-Turo. There are also short films and animated films included in the competition.

All mainstream entries were shown in Christmas Day and will lasted until the second or third week of January 2016. Meanwhile, during the height of the competition there were controversies that the committee need to face including the alleged ticket swapping that they immediately denied and the disqualification of the film of Honor Thy Father in the Best Picture category. Meanwhile in some cinemas Honor Thy Father and Nilalang were already pulled out.
