After the announcement of Senator Grace Poe last September 16 at the Bahay Alumni in University of the Philippines-Diliman in Quezon City that she will be running for president in the 2016 election, Senator Chiz Escudero earlier today announced that he will be joining Poe to be her Vice President. The announcement was made by Escudero at the Club Filipino in Greenhills, San Juan. His wife, Heart Evangelista together with his family and friends from the political arena joined him in accepting the challenge to run with Poe.
“Tinatanggap ko ng may buong tapang at pagkukumbaba na maging katuwang niya sa mga landas na kanyang tatahakin sa mga susunod na araw,” Escudero’s message in joining Poe in the race for higher office in 2016.
The Grace-Chiz 2016 tandem became popular early this year since issues concerning Poe’s legality to run in higher office started. Issue on Poe’s legality to hold public office was thrown by Vice President Jejomar Binay’s camp that will be one of her opponent in the 2016 election together with former DILG Secretary Mar Roxas.
Up to date, two presidential contenders Roxas and Binay haven’t confirmed their running mates the name Senator Bongbong Marcos was connected to Binay while Batangas Governor Vilma Santos, Camarines Sur 3rd district Congresswoman Leni Robredo, Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte and Senator Alan Peter Cayetano were the popular names rumored to be Roxas’ possible running mate.
