Aside from the fancy and unique fashion statement of Miley Cyrus as host of the MTV Video Music Awards 2015 that was held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, with several of the performances emanating from the VMAs Downtown Los Angeles stage presented by Pepsi outside the iconic Orpheum Theatre. Singer and songwriter Taylor Swift became the big winner of the night after receiving four Moonman (VMAs trophy) including Video of the Year for Bad Blood, Best Female Video and Best Pop Video for Blank Space, and Best Collaboration also with Bad Blood.
Meanwhile, rapper and record producer Kanye West accepted the accepted the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award in a 13-minute speech in which he reflected on his life and work, artistry and consumer culture, not to mention his at times tenuous relationship with award shows. Aside from the heart-warming message, West expressed his regrets for crashing the stage in 2009’s VMAs to Swift who handed him the award. In his speech he declared his intention to run for President in the 2020 election that immediately trended on Twitter.
