From August 26 to September 13, 2015, Dulaang UP of the University of the Philippines Diliman, will be staging the modern version of the iconic novel of William Shakespeare that was played in various platforms entitled Romeo and Juliet. Dulaang UP gives a new touch of the great love story of William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet in R</3J.
With the same plot and characters, the story of R</3J will now revolve in the heart of Metro Manila with corruption, revolt, advertisements, sex, social media and condominium units that complicates the lives of Romeo and Juliet together with their friends and family.
The play uses pastiche of movement, music, intertext, video and designs to add to the modern approach of the show. Dexter M. Santos directs R</3J with the adaptation of Guelan Varela-Luarca and music design by Krina Cayabyab.
It will run on the said dates; Wed – Fri 7 pm; Sat & Sun 10am, 3pm, 8pm at Wilfrido Ma. Guerrero Theater, UP Diliman. Tickets are priced at Php 500.
