Easter Sunday, Boy Abunda together with Kris Aquino and Toni Gonzaga made an official announcement that The Buzz will be taking a break for unknown period of time that shocked the loyal viewers of the top-rating Sunday afternoon showbiz talk show. Boy mention that they decided to have a break at the same time they are not sure if one of them or all will be returning after the break or will there be another show to replace The Buzz. Boy ensured the viewers that the talkshow on ABS-CBN will continue and will not die.
Meanwhile, ABS-CBN releases official statement in connection with the decision of The Buzz team to have a break. In the statement that was released few hours after the announcement says:
“After more than 15 years of unparalleled credibility as Philippine television’s leading showbiz-oriented talk show, The Buzz takes a break after its April 5,2015 episode. The program recognizes the evolution in showbiz news reporting, and to cope with it, The Buzz deems it a necessary step to reinvent to start anew. Showbiz news will never die. The showbiz talk genre remains. Since the program began, The Buzz has gained the authority of being the premiere source of truthful and balanced entertainment news for the Filipino audience worldwide. As the program bids farewell for now, The Buzz would like to thank its loyal viewers for the support they have given the show in its entire run. See you again soon.”
The announcement was released by ABS-CBN Corporate Communications. Until now as the article is being written there is no announcement yet on what show will replace The Buzz on the said timeslot. The Buzz became the number 1 showbiz talkshow of ABS-CBN. It was initially hosted by Boy, Kris and Cristy Fermin and later Gretchen Barretto, Ruffa Gutierrez, KC Concepcion, Charlene Gonzales and Toni became host of the show. Other celebrities and personalities that became segment producer of the show include Ricky Lo, John Lapus, Dolly Ann Carvajal, Tim Yap, AJ Dee, Chokoleit, Anne Curtis, Angelica Jones, Pokwang, Jobert Sucaldito, Phoemela Baranda and JV Villar.
