Former President and now Pampanga Representative Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo finds new alliance with Amal Alamuddin-Clooney, the wife of the Holywood actor George Clooney who is an international humanitarian rights lawyer by profession. Amal will be representing Arroyo in requesting for her release from the hospital arrest and giving her the access to communications such as internet and mobile phone.
The said appeal was submitted to the United Nations Human Rights Council last February 26 which according to the case filled by Clooney in defense of Arroyo that the Republic of the Philippines violated the articles 9, 14, 19 and 25 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.
Clooney appeals the UN to release Arroyo from hospital arrest or allow her to have temporary freedom to seek medication in other country. Clooney requests the Philippine government to release Arroyo and allow her to use mobile phone and internet for communication. She also asked for the investigation on the violation of Arroyo’s human rights and let the persons behind it to be punished aside from the public apology and compensation that is due.
