In line with the incident that happened last Feburary 19 for the Fiesta Tsinoy in Albay, the name of the Kapamilya actor Xian Lim who was invited to the said event was dragged in a controversy involving Albay Governor Joey Salceda and Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office staff attorney Carol Sabio. The issue started where Salceda posted on his Facebook that Xian refused to accept the Albay shirt and coffee table book. According to Salceda they were insulted especially that the actor said that he said he was not there to promote Albay. Salceda posted that they pay Php 350,000 for Xian during the said event and they never expect that kind of attitude.
Salcedo questioned Xian’s attitude with hard-hitting questions including; 1. His parents did not raise him well. 2. He had bad education. 3. He is not managed well. 4. His character is inversely proportional to his looks. 5. He is on something (pertaining to use of abuse substance).
Xian immediately posted on his social media account an apology on the said incident at the same time clarified what happened in the said event. In the interview in The Buzz he said that he was having fun performing in front of the people of Albay during the Fiesta Tsinoy. He said that he explained why he couldn’t wear the t-shirt because it might cause a conflict with his endorsement. I his SNS post he said “My parents raised me to be respectful and generous to everyone, and my management has always stressed the virtues of decency and humility. I do not do drugs and have worked hard to get to where I am.” He expressed willingness to help promote Albay afterall that his roots where from Albay.
After few days of not accepting Xian’s apology, Gov. Joey Salceda finally gave his statement in The Buzz saying that in light with the Lenten Season he will be forgiving Xian and mentioned that he might they might have misunderstanding but they are willing to welcome him in his return to their place.
