We celebrate love, life and individuality in Rent and Sweet Charity that 9Works Theatrical brought in the Philippines few years ago and now another great musical that will be played in the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium at the RCBC Plaza in Makati from February 28 to March 29 entitled La Cage Aux Folles.
The musical is based from the 1973 French play of the same name by Jean Poiret, it focuses on a gay couple: Georges, the manager of a Saint-Tropez nightclub featuring drag entertainment, and Albin, his romantic partner and star attraction. Michael de Mesa and Audie Gemora will play both characters respectively. Everything is great for the of them until Georges’s son Jean-Michel played by Steven Silva who will be bringing the ultra conservative family of his fiancée Anne Dindon who will be alternately played by Missy Macuja-Elizalde and Joni Galeste.
With this kind of situation how will things work with Jean-Michel especially if his future in-laws might disapprove his relationship with their daughter once they learned the situation of his family? Aside from the conflict, La Cage Aux Folles offers a very surprising and entertaining performances and transformations of the theater and TV actors you know like are JP Basco, Mara Celine Javier, Randi de Guzman, Carlos Deriada, Chesko Rodriguez, Dindo Divinagracia, Cheeno Macaraig, James Stacey and Rafa Siguion-Reyna as they become the Les Cagelles.
The musical will be directed by Robbie Guevara, with scenic and costume design by Mio Infante, and special participation of the Fashion Designers Association of the Philippines; choreography by Arnold Trinidad, PJ Rebullida, and Yek Barlongay; musical direction by Joseph Tolentino and Sweet Plantado-Tiongson; lighting design by Martin Esteva; technical direction by Dong Calingacion; hair and makeup design by Myrene Santos; and additional costume execution by Twinkle Zamora; photography by Leo Castillo and graphic design by Larry Palma.
9Works Theatrical will surely offer a one of a kind theater experience with the La Cage Aux Folles as they ensure colors, sounds and freedom of expression and one’s self starting February 28 to March 29, 2015, with Friday and Saturday galas at 8:00pm, Saturday matinees at 3:30pm, and Sunday matinees at 4:00pm.
