His father, Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada might be celebrating right now after Supreme Court (SC) junks disqualification case filled against him, Senator Jinggoy Estrada will still be facing the plunder case filled against him after SC denies his petition. The said decision was released earlier today. With the vote 9-5-1, SC voted against his petition and will continue to face the case the plunder case that drags his name in the biggest corruption scandal or also known as the Pork Barrel Scam.
The announcement of SC’s decision was made by the Spokesman Theodore Te. Members of the SC who voted against his petition include Senior Associate Justice Antonio Carpio and concurred by Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno, and Associate Justices Diosdado Peralta, Mariano del Castillo, Martin Villarama Jr, Jose Perez, Bienvenido Reyes, Estela Perlas-Bernabe, and Marvic Leonen. Meanwhile those who are in favor include Associate Justices Presbitero Velasco Jr, Teresita Leonardo-De Castro, Arturo Brion, Lucas Bersamin, and Jose Mendoza. And lastly, Associate Justice Francis Jardeleza inhibits himself.
Jinggoy needs to face plunder case and 15 counts of graft for the alleged misuse of his Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF), which involves Senators Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. and Juan Ponce Enrille and Janet Lim Napoles.
He is currently detained in Camp Crame together with Revilla.
