As we count down to the visit of Pope Francis in the Philippines that will happen on January 15-19, 2015 which the majority will be in Metro Manila aside from Tacloban, Malacanang officially declared that the dates Jan. 15, 16 and 19 will be a special non-working holiday only in the National Capital Region (NCR). The said declaration was made possible through the Proclamation No. 936 issued by Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa, Jr.
Pope Francis will be arriving on January 15 in the Villamor Airbase. The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) ordered that arriving flights will be suspended on January 15 between 2-7pm in connection with the Papal Visit. Also on the departure of Pope Francis they will suspend arriving flights 6 to 10:30 a.m.
Meanwhile regarding traffic flow, Roads including Sales Avenue going to Andrews Avenue and to Domestic Road will be close from closed 3 p.m. to 7 p.m on Jan. 15 and will be close once again on Jan. 19 from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m.
For flights affected with the MIAA’s announcement they are asking the passengers to contact their airlines or their travel agency to discuss their revised flight schedules and they must not pay rescheduling fees.
