The Mockingjay lives! After the breathtaking 3rd Quarter Quell in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire last November 2013, Katniss Everdeen returns to the big screen for the two-part finale of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay which part 1 will be airing in all theaters nationwide by November 20, 2014. Based on the bestselling trilogy of a novel written by Suzanne Collins that has sold over 65 million copies in the U.S. alone in print, the film features Jennifer Lawrence playing the role of Katniss a young lady who volunteered to become a tribute in order to save her sister and won on the 74th Hunger Games together with his fellow District 12 tribute Peeta Mellark played by Josh Hutcherson. From her courage and bravery she became the symbol of home from the rebel who are opposing the administration of President Coriolanus Snow (Donald Sutherland) who lives in Panem.
The Katniss and Peeta love team that gained huge followers from all the districts even in Panem were separated when Katniss was rescued by the Gamemaker Plutarch Heavensbee which was originally the leader of the rebellion along with Finnick Odair (Sam Claflin) and Haymitch Abernathy (Woody Harrelson). But Peeta was left in the arena together with Johanna Mason (Jena Malone) and later held captive and brainwashed by President Snow to be his allies.
Katniss will meet President Alma Coin (Julianne Moore) the leader of District 13. We all know what will be her role in the story which as presented by the book. We will see in the movie how will it be and will there be changes just like in the earlier films of the Hunger Games trilogy.
“The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1” is directed by Francis Lawrence from a screenplay by Peter Craig and Danny Strong and produced by Nina Jacobson’s Color Force in tandem with producer Jon Kilik. It will be distributed by Pioneer Films.
