October 19 was the first game ever for the team of Kia Sorento where it was the first game in the opening of the Season 20 of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Philippine Cup held in the Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan. Kia beats Blackwater Elite, also a newcomer in PBA with the 80-66. The game favors to Kia on the last quarter of the game where Blackwater has their advantage on the first two quarters; 12-21 and 25-34.
The advantage on the last quarter was ensured by LA Revilla who contributed 23 points in the Kia score. 14 of the 23 scores of Rivera for Kia were thrown during the third quarter of the game that shifted the lead to Kia with score 63-51. Rivera was a former De La Salle University Green Archer who was drafted at 24th overall by GlobalPort Batang Pier team last 2013 before being released to the dispersal draft that allowed Kia to get him.
Aside from Rivera, major point contributors for Kia include Rudy Lingganay, Hans Thiele, Eder Saldua, Rich Alvarez and Reil Cervantes. Meanwhile the head coach and player Manny Pacquaio will not be on the game mode until his boxing fight on November 23 in Macau against Chris Algieri to defend his WBO welterweight title.
The next game of Kia will be against Barangay Ginebra San Miguel that will happen on Saturday, October 25.
