After more than 7 months from the mauling incident that involved the comedian and TV host Vhong Navarro in a condominium located at the Bonifacio Global City (BGC) in Taguig City where suspects Cedric Lee, Deniece Cornejo and Zimmer Raz were accused with illegal detention, the Taguig Regional Trial Court Branch 271 granted the plea of the three to post bail and have their temporary liberty. Each can post bail amounting to Php 500K which according to the court.
The granting of the plea was made possible after Cornejo’s lawyer Axel Gonzales presented the court with 72 page resolution discussing the court that Navarro “fails to prove that there is strong evidence for the continued detention of the accused.”
Gonzales obtained a copy of the court’s resolution on the bail plea.
Meanwhile, the lawyer of Navarro, attorney Alma Mallonga said that they were shocked in the decision of the court on granting the accused to post bail on the case that’s non-bailable. “We are very sure that a serious crime has been committed,” Mallonga said in her radio interview. She confirmed that they will be filing a motion for reconsideration to contest the decision.
