The phenomenal novel of John Green entitled The Fault In Our Stars made it big on the big screen especially in the Philippines after earning Php 52 million on its first 4 days in cinemas. The romantic comedy film that features Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort playing the role of Hazel Grace Lancaster and Augustus Waters respectively did a remarkable impact to the movie goers especially those who became hooked in the novel of Green.
From its opening the Philippines last June 5, it became a word of mouth among movie-goers especially by netizens sharing their opinions and lines from the movie that they truly fell in love or was touch tremendously.
Breaking down the earning, from the137 screens, The Fault In Our Stars’ admissions have managed to reach 283, 680 over its opening weekend. With sold out tickets on its first day in the Philippines, it was Ayala Malls Cinemas’ Trinoma that landed the top spot amongst theaters with Php 2.3million in receipts. Second best recorded box-office comes from SM North Edsa/The Block at Php 2.13 million followed by Glorietta4 (Php 1.9M); SM Mall of Asia (Php 1.8M) and SM Megamall (Php 1.6M).

The film follows the love of Hazel Grace and Gus for each other as they face the cancer that slowly kills them. Hazel Grace has it on his lungs, while Gus it grew in his body after believing that amputating his leg can save him. But it doesn’t stop their love for each other instead they became strength to each other.

Aside from the Philippines, The Fault In Our Stars earned $48 Million in US during its opening weekend. The film is under 20th Century Fox.
