We all love shopping especially on a Sunday, don’t we? And in Greenhills Shopping Center in San Juan they will be having a more meaning shopping activity this Sunday, June 29 as they conducted their 5th Cash for Scrap: A Recyclers’ Bazaar to promote green living and awareness on proper solid waste management within their mall and among their shoppers. The said activity encourages shoppers to bring recyclable wastes this Sunday to the Parking 1, fronting G-Strip Building between 8 AM to 12noon whereas Greenhills Shopping Center will be buying those recyclable waste which will be an extra budget for shoppers for their Sunday shopping activity.
Recyclable wastes includes:
- Paper products: Newspapers, cartons, magazines, notebooks, old books, telephone directories, and more
- Plastic products: PET bottles, used but clean plastic bags, sando bags, plastic sachets, plastic straws, and more
- Electronic wastes: Non-working electronic & electrical appliances, household batteries, cellphone batteries and chargers, CPU’s & monitors, laptops, digital cameras, telephones, fax machines, printers, scanners, keyboards, and others.
- Aluminum cans of soda and other beverages
- Clean and dry Polystyrene sytro
- Tetra Pak cartons, doy packs of juice and shampoo sachets
- Used printer ink cartridges
- Used cooking oil
This campaign encourages everyone to be aware on recycle and proper waste management that will be very helpful not only making the surroundings clean and beautiful but our ways in taking part in protecting the environment. According to Cathy Ko, General Manager of Greenhills Shopping Center that they are looking forward to another year of active participation from their shoppers and near subdivisions and communities whereas last 2013 they gathered 2,000kg of paper products, 1,650 kg of used lead acid batteries and other forms of recyclable and reusable waste.
This year they are also inviting participants to bring notebooks, usable bags and pens, and other school supplies, which they could generously donate and it will be donated to Caritas Manila who will be helping in distributing it to the children who are in need especially that school year is officially open.
The Recyclers’ Bazaar is co-presented by National Solid Waste Management Commission under the Department of Environmental and Natural Resources, Barangays Greenhills and Wack-Wack, Solid Waste Management Association of the Philippines, and Ortigas & Company.
