Now on its 4th year, Coca-Cola Football Festival promotes active lifestyle among tweens and teenagers from 11 to 17 years old to participate in this big summer football festival happening in Alabang Country Club. There are 230 teams or more than 3, 500 players participating on the said event hoping to bring home the medals, trophy, recognition and most of all sportsmanship and new friends from other team.
Teams are divided into 7 different age categories, teams will be competing in a 22-football fields simultaneously and follows a 7A Side Football Format wherein each team is limited to 7 players. Only one team per club or school per division is allowed to join the cup. The game is open for both male and female group from various schools and football group in the country.
According to Guillermo Aponte, President and General Manager of Coca-Cola Philippines, he said that he was very happy that the number of participants of the Coca-Cola Football Festival grew from 2, 700 to 3, 500 and he is hoping to see it increase every season.
Among the Coca-Cola Football Festival participants from last year are returning to join the activity are Green Barons, Miriam College, Xavier Football Club, Roxas Wildcats Football Club, Masbate Football Club, Makati Football Club, De La Salle University, FC Sikat, De La Salle Zobel, Makati FC Elite, and Makati Football School.
Coca-Cola through the Football Festival even the on-going Coca-Cola PBA Youngstars and the next Red Cross Million Volunteer Run is their advocacy to promote wellbeing is hinged on a global sustainability framework, which also involves women’s economic empowerment and environmental protection. Whereas their brand is helping individuals make informed choices on food consumption, proper hydration, and the benefits of engaging in different forms of physical activity.
Meanwhile, the Coca-Cola Football Festival is a collaborative effort between Coca-Cola Philippines, Powerade, Makati Football Club, Alabang Football School, Alabang Country Club, and the NCR Football Association.
Lastly, the Coca-Cola Company also has a long-standing relationship with FIFA since 1974, and has been an official sponsor of the FIFA World Cup since 1978. Through the Company’s ‘World’s Cup Campaign’, it invites the world to celebrate football as a force for social good. The 2014 FIFA World Cup will happen in Brazil and Coca-Cola will definitely be there to be part this big football event in the world.
