In line with the 2016 National Election that is just a couple of years from now, some names in the entertainment industry with political connection emerges and might be possible contenders for the executive position. Popular names include Vilma Santos, Kris Aquino, Bong Revilla and Jinggoy Estrada that might be a possible running mate of either Mar Roxas for Liberal Party (LP) who is currently the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary or Vice President Jejomar Binay who is planning to create a new political party after cutting ties with the Partido Demokratiko ng Pilipinas-Laban (PDP-Laban).
For the LP group where President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III haven’t anointed his contender for presidential post, the name of Roxas is prominent and viable to be the standard bearer for the party. Whereas the possible name that might join him as running mate is Kris who is the sister of Noynoy and currently influential name in the entertainment industry. Also another possible running mate of Mar in LP is Senator Revilla that is currently drawn in the issue of the pork barrel.
Meanwhile the name of Vilma who is currently the Governor of Batangas became popular for more than a week which report says that she might be a possible running mate of Binay. Just like with LP there’s no selection yet but Vilma’s husband Senator Ralph Rector said that she has no plan of running on 2016 and might be retiring after ending her tem as governor. But before Vilma, Jinggoy’s name was popular amongst the opposition and possible running mate for Binay but everything was toned down after being included in the issue of pork barrel scam just like Revilla.
With the possible names that are now starting come out along with the possible front liners for presidential post which are Roxas and Binay we are now getting the picture on what might be the political atmosphere on 2016 or possible leaders.
