Once again stars collided at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles for the 86th Academy Awards or simply Oscars. Hosted by TV host and comedian Ellen DeGeneres, the 86th Academy Awards gives recognition to stars, filmmakers and production staffs that made their best to produce the best films in 2013. Film included in the roaster of nominees were Gravity, American Hustle, 12 Years a Slave, Captain Phillips, Dallas Buyers Club, Nebraska, Her, The Wolf of Wall Street, Philomena, Blue Jasmine, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, August: Osage County, Despicable Me, Frozen, The Grandmaster ,The Great Gatsby, Inside Llewyn Davis, The Lone Ranger and Lone Survivor.
The prestigious awarding ceremony ended giving Gravity 7 awards including Best Cinematography, Best Directing, Best Editing and Best Visual Effects. Meanwhile, Matthew McConaughey of Dallas Buyers Club snatched the Best Actor trophy from Leonardo DiCaprio for The Wolf of Wall Street and Christian Bale for American Hustle. At the same time Cate Blanchett of Blue Jasmine defeated Sandra Bullock of Gravity and Meryl Streep of August: Osage County. Also a shocker for the followers of Jennifer Lawrence and Julia Roberts, 12 Years a Slave’s actress Lupita Nyong’o secured the Best Supporting Actress title. The 12 Years a Slave was named as the Best Picture of the year.
