Who can ever forget the old time favorite Luha, Halik and Basang Basa sa Ulan of the legendary pop-rock OPM band Aegis that became the themesong of most of the Filipinos who became heart broken or simply on their “senti mode”. Until now their songs dominate the radio airwaves not to mentions in local videoke bars that keep their novelty songs alive and kicking. And now from radio, TV and even karaoke and videoke bars the songs of Aegis will be moving to the stage of Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA) as their closing act for the 46th Theater Season.
The rock comedy-musical Rak of Aegis will be running in all Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from January 31 to March 9, PETA brings our all time favorite Aegis songs perfectly blended in the wonderful story of love, fame and resilience of the community in flooded village of Villa Venizia. You will hear again the songs Luha, Halik, Sundot, Christmas Bonus, and Basang-basa sa Ulan performed by Isay Alvarez-Seña, Robert Seña, Aicelle Santos, and Joan Bugcat.
Each Aegis song will represent the life and story of each character where we can see ourselves in-love, struggling in our everyday lives, dreaming and hoping and reaching our goals. This will be the main goal of Rak of Aegis to see ourselves in every song of Aegis that became the theme song of our everyday lives like other OPM songs that we embrace.
Rak of Aegis was spearheaded by PETA Artistic Director Maribel Legarda and Palanca Award-winning writer Liza Magtoto, with musical arrangement and musical direction by actor-musician Myke Salomon. Rak of Aegis also consists of a talented artistic team which includes Gio Gahol (choreography), Jonjon Villareal (lighting design), Mio Infante (production design), Carlo Pagunaling (costume design), Maco Custodio (shoe design), and Joan Pamintuan (accessory design).
