After the triple success of the Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla tandem on the big screen which include Sisterakas, Must Be Love and Pagpag Siyam Na Buhay, they will be doing another sure blockbuster movie that will be hitting soon in all cinemas nationwide entitled She’s Dating the Gangster. The film will be directed by Cathy Garcia Molina which was KathNiel’s director in their hit teleserye Got To Believe that’s currently airing on ABS-CBN’s Primetime Bida.
She’s Dating the Gangster was author Bianca Bernardino and originally published in the social media-based publishing site Wattpad in 2006. And later it was published as a physical novel by Summit Media and distributed to local bookstores including National Bookstore and Powerbooks. Up to date there were more than 50, 000 copies nationwide.
The story of She’s Dating the Gangster follows the story of Athena Dizon and Kenji de los Reyes which will be played by Kathryn and Daniel respectively. Both who are teenagers who pretended to be in a relationship and eventually everything turns deeper between the two of them. Kenjie has a bad boy persona that only Daniel can do it in his age but despite of the tough character there’s a sweet child inside him. And that sweetness was brought out by Athena that was played by Kathryn a street smart young lady that usually an underdog in the campus. It will be a cats and dogs fight at first and later the underdog simple girl soften the heart of the campus heartthrob who is actually a leader of gang.
Bernardino believes that Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla can really present the characters and the story properly which both of them possessed the personality of Kenjie and Athena in most of their hit teleseryes including Princess And I and Got To Believe both aired on ABS-CBN.
The film will be distributed by Star Cinema and now included in various novels adapted in a film including Bakit Hindi Ka Crush Ng Crush Mo of Xian Lim and Kim Chiu, Dekada 70 and Bata Bata Paano Ka Ginawa both films that Vilma Santos portrayed as the lead star.
