After reaching the number 1 in free gaming app in both App Store for iOs devices and Google Play for android devices, the game developer .GEARS headed by the Vietnamese developer Dong Nguyen posted in his twitter account that they will be taking down Flappy Bird. “I am sorry ‘Flappy Bird’ users, 22 hours from now, I will take ‘Flappy Bird’ down. I cannot take this anymore.” His Twitter post stated and it was posted on the early morning of February 9.
He said that there’s no legal issues concerning his decision to pull-out the application on app stores eventhough it gained popularity as 2014 entered. The app earned more than $50, 000 per day because of the mobile ads that appeared on the top corner of the game and it refreshes everytime the player resets the game. Nguyen said that the game is not for sale and he will not entertain buyers.
Flappy Bird gained popularity among smartphone and tablet users because of its simple goal yet complicated navigation or control. For those who downloaded Flappy Bird they can still enjoy the game without update option anymore because of the pull-out of the app. While for others they can no longer download the app once .Gears took down the said game on the app stores.
