4 days after Bandila reported a mysterious flesh-eating disease that affected two individuals in Pangasinan that created commotion to its viewers, the news program and ABS-CBN News and Current Affairs issued an apology statement on the said incident. The statement says “Himihingi ang Bandila ng paumanhin kung ang ulat naming tungkol sa dalawang magkaibang kaso ng sakit sa balat ay nagdulot ng takot at pangamba lalo na sa lalawigan ng Pangasinan. Iniimbestigahan na ngayon ng ABS-CBN Office of the Network Ombusman (ONO) ang pangyayari sa likod ng ulat. Sisiguraduhin ng ABS-CBN News na magpapatupad ito ng karampatang aksyon ayon sa resulta ng imbestigasyon ng ONO.”
The said report of the mysterious skin disease in Pangasinan in two of its residents specifically the 21 year old female patient in Santa Barbara that according to the Department of Health (DOH) Region 1 has leprosy and the 20-year old male in Villasis that has extreme psoriasis. The report of Jasmine Romero who was the correspondent used the term “misteryosong sakit sa balat” (mysterious skin disease) on her report and during the end of the report the anchor Julius Babao left a question if the said report has connection to prophecy where netizens connected it to what the Indian prophet Sadhu Sundar Selvaraj who visited the Philippines last April 2013. This was also the alleged prophet who prophesized the Cebu-Bohol earthquake and Super Typhoon Yolanda.
Before the apology statement of Bandila, the show Aquino & Abunda Tonight where Kris Aquino and Boy Abunda hosted the show had interviewed the DOH Regional Director for Region 1 Dr. Myrna Cabotaja who clarified the said case of the two persons reported by Bandila. And also affirms that DOH is now helping them to be cured.
