Last Saturday (January 18) It’s Showtime officially launched their latest segment entitled I Am Pogay. The segment follows the successful That’s My Tomboy that is now close to its finale and aims to recognize the wittiness and talent of the lesbian community. This time the top-rating noontime variety show of ABS-CBN took a big step once again as they launched the segment I Am Pogay that is intended to the gay community to show their talent and their looks.
The first contestants for the I Am Pogay were Erimar Ortigas and Dennishon Bryan Reyes-Javier. Live audience became wild as they came out on stage and gave their lines, the same way netizens gave their reactions on the social media giving positive feedback to the show where the topics I Am Pogay and POGAY trended on Twitter in the Philippines and also worldwide.
Just like other contest like this, I Am Pogay is divided into three parts the introduction, talent and question and answer portion. At the end of the Q&A the audience will show their feedback through their cards stating confirmed or confused. According to Dennishon I Am Pogay was his way to tell the world and his parents about his sexual orientation. Both contestants won the said competition.
Aside from I Am Pogay and That’s My Tomboy, It’s Showtime created breakthrough segments including Kalokalikes for ordinary people that has resemblance with local and international stars and Stars on 45 that gave the chance to 45 years old Filipinos to show their talents in performing.
It’s Showtime is hosted by Anne Curtis, Vice Ganda, Vhong Navarro, Karylle, Billy Crawford, Kim Atienza, Jugs Jugueta, Teddy Corpuz, Jhong Hilario, Ryan Bang, Coleen Garcia and Eric “Eruption” Tai.
